Autism Friendly Museum Nights

Artlink

Hi there,

My name is Laura Bennison and I work as a Community Engagement Manager at National Museums Scotland.

I’d like to let you know about two after hours events we have coming up at National Museums Scotland for young adults (14+) and their families/carers/youth workers.

These events are designed to be an informal opportunity for Autistic teenagers to enjoy our temporary exhibitions and new permanent galleries in a small group, on their own terms at a time when the public aren’t in the building. On each date we will have the exhibition curator to share their expert knowledge of their subject matter.

The first event in March Monday 25th focuses on our Robots exhibition and the second event in May Tues 21st  focuses on our new Ancient Egypt Gallery. At both events there will be an informal break out space, some handling objects to explore and a chance to have a discussion with the curators.

The events are free to attend but places must be booked in advance with myself at this email address. We welcome youth groups with adult workers and individuals with their family member or guardian.

You can find more information about these events on our webpage here

https://www.nms.ac.uk/national-museum-of-scotland/whats-on/autism-after-hours/

As we are only just beginning to organise events for Autistic young adults we would really welcome any suggestions, recommendations or feedback. Please feel free to get in touch with me for a chat or with any questions you might have.

I’d be very grateful if you could circulate the above link in your networks to make sure as many people as possible know about this opportunity.

Best wishes and thank-you
